Shell Campground is the closest full-service campground to the Big Horn Mountains. We’re located conveniently on US Highway 14, a main route to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Shell Canyon and Big Horn National Forest is located about 5 minutes up the highway. You won’t find a better location to explore the Big Horn mountains and basin.

We have 9 cabins, each with their own full bathroom attached. There are 8 full-hookup RV sites (4 pull-thru, 4 back-in) with 50/30/15-amp electric. We also offer 4 furnished glamping tents, each with a queen bed. All guests can access complimentary wifi, our spotless shower house and coin-operated laundry facilities.

Shell Campground is open year-round – although in the winter we definitely recommend a cabin over a tent!

There’s a number of things that will bring you to the area. The most obvious is the abundant activities in the Big Horn Mountains – fishing, hunting, hiking, snowmobiling, nordic skiing, wildlife watching and more. The area is also known for its archaeological treasures – within a few miles of the campground you’ll find the Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite.

Downhill skiing is also nearby at Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area, which offers lift-served and nordic skiing in winter and hosts summer events like the Summer Festival and Big Horn Mountains Brewfest. Check their website for current season dates and events.
